What "bottled-quality" actually means.

Reverse osmosis pushes water through a semi-permeable membrane with pores so small that only water molecules pass through. Everything else — dissolved minerals, chemicals, microscopic contaminants — gets flushed away. The result is water purer than what you buy in plastic bottles from the store.

South Florida tap water passes EPA standards, but EPA standards don't cover everything. PFAS (forever chemicals), pharmaceutical residue, microplastics, lead from older home plumbing, and disinfection byproducts are all things RO removes and most filters don't.

A modern under-sink RO unit installs in 1-2 hours, gives you a dedicated faucet next to your regular kitchen tap, and quietly produces clean water on demand. You stop hauling bottled water from Costco. You stop spending $40-80/month on water delivery. Your coffee tastes better. Your ice is clear.

Bottled vs. RO — actual annual cost.

Most people who buy bottled water don't realize what they're spending until they add it up. Here's a real comparison for a 4-person household in Palm Beach:

Bottled / Delivery ServiceUnder-Sink RO System (Ours)
Year 1 cost$840-1,560 (cases or delivery)$650-1,400 one-time install
Year 2-10 cost$840-1,560 / year — forever$80-150 / year (filter changes only)
10-year total$8,400-15,600$1,400-2,700 (install + maintenance)
Plastic waste1,200-2,400 bottles / year per familyZero — refillable glass at the tap

Purity vs. tapOften equivalent or worse than tapFilters 95-99% of contaminants

Signs you should put in an RO system.

  • You buy bottled water for drinking even though you have a softener
  • Tap water has a slight aftertaste — metallic, chemical, or earthy
  • Your ice cubes are cloudy or break apart easily
  • Coffee, tea, or cooking results vary depending on the water source
  • Your kids refuse to drink tap water
  • You're spending more than $30/month on bottled water or delivery
  • Pets refuse the tap water bowl but drink from the toilet (yes, really)
  • You want pregnancy-safe or baby-formula-safe water without buying bottles
If 2+ apply, an RO system pays for itself in 12-18 months and you stop hauling bottles forever.

What RO actually removes — vs. fridge or pitcher filters.

Independent contaminant removal data

Reverse osmosis is the gold standard for drinking water purification.

99%
Reduction of lead, chlorine, fluoride, arsenic
97%
Reduction of PFAS "forever chemicals"
<10 PPM
TDS in output (tap water = 200-400 PPM)

Comparison: fridge filters and Brita pitchers reduce chlorine taste and some sediment but pass 90%+ of dissolved contaminants through. They're better than nothing but not in the same league as RO. Source: NSF International tested 5-stage RO performance, 2022.

What makes our RO different.

We don't install the cheap pre-packaged RO units sold at big-box stores. Our systems are professional-grade, with high-flow membranes, quality pre-filters, and remineralization options if you want minerals added back for taste.

5-Stage Filtration

Sediment + carbon prefilter + RO membrane + post-carbon + remineralization. Each stage targets a different contaminant class.

High-Flow Membrane

75-100 GPD membranes — faster fill, less wait at the tap. Cheap systems use 50 GPD and people give up using them.

Optional Remineralization

RO removes everything including beneficial minerals. We can add a cartridge that puts calcium and magnesium back for better taste.

Tank or Tankless Options

Traditional tank stores ~3 gallons ready-to-go. Tankless systems save space under your sink — we'll recommend based on your kitchen.

Reverse osmosis FAQ.

How much does an RO system cost installed?
Professional under-sink RO systems installed run $650-$1,400 depending on features (tankless, remineralization, fridge line). See the cost breakdown above. Big-box DIY units are cheaper but don't last and people stop using them when they slow down.
Doesn't RO water taste flat or strip minerals from you?
RO does remove dissolved minerals. The amount of calcium/magnesium you'd get from tap water is tiny anyway (you get hundreds of times more from food), but if you prefer mineralized water for taste, we install a remineralization cartridge that adds calcium and magnesium back. Many people prefer the cleaner taste of plain RO.
How much water does it waste?
Modern high-efficiency RO systems waste about 1 gallon of brine per 1-2 gallons of purified water — much better than older systems that wasted 4+. The savings vs. bottled water are still massive even accounting for waste.
How often do filters need changing?
Pre-filters every 6-12 months, RO membrane every 2-3 years. We sell filter kits or include service in our membership plans. Most people never change them themselves — we just stop by.
Can I get RO to my fridge for ice and the door dispenser?
Yes — we can run the RO line to your fridge during install. Adds about $80-150 to the project depending on cabinet routing. Cleanest ice you'll ever drink.
